Singapore Photowalk 2012

50 best entries were showcased in Singapore, 2012.

About thirty eager photographers and their cameras came together for Emaho Exhibition’s Photowalk held in Singapore on a perfect sunny Saturday morning in February 2012. With the participants all set to capture the true essence of the Chinatown, the walk was the second of its kind, after Emaho Exhibition’s first Photowalk held in Philippines to capture the last moments of 2011.

The entire session that lasted about five hours aimed primarily at street photography. The participants were taught how to capture emotions, look out for the perfect moment to click and most importantly, how to approach people they planned on shooting. The photographers got some amazing shots of a couple of retired men playing a game of chess, among some of the other priceless moments they managed to immortalize, capturing the true essence of the Chinatown.

The photowalk was led by Hershey Desai, a photographer based in Singapore, with more than two dozen awards adding to his credentials. Interestingly, Hershey made sure the participants used a prime lens so they’d have to go up close to the subject for their photograph, compelling the photographer to interact with the subject on a personal level that’d help build confidence – a pre-requisite for street photography.

The event, definitely exciting and a great success garnered a bunch of enthusiastic amateur photographers and put their skills to test. The participants were given the opportunity to send in the best of their pictures from the walk for an online competition by Emaho Exhibition. The top six entries were given the chance to have their work published in the Emaho Magazine.

Emaho Exhibition plans to have regular photowalks in different countries around the world.
